Holy Name Parish

The Retirees Club next meeting will be August 10 at 3:00pm in the Finn Hall. Be sure to bring your membership card. Hope to see you there.

Blood Drive Donors are Needed Holy Name Parish with Brigham and Women’s Hospital will host a blood drive September 18 from 9:00am–2:00pm in Parish Hall. To book an appointment, call 617-732-6288.

Prior to donating, all donors must be in good general health, feel well, be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 100 pounds, had something to eat and be well hydrated with non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, call the Blood Donor Center at 617-732-6620.

One in three people in their lifetime will require a blood transfusion. Cancer patients, newborns in the intensive care unit and trauma victims are just a few examples of those who rely on blood donations from healthy volunteers. Please consider being a donor.

The Brigham and Woman’s Blood Donor Center is a member of the joint program in transfusion medicine. This is a unique blood donor program shared by Brigham & Women’s Hospital, a whole blood collection facility, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s Kraft Family Blood Donor Center, a platelet collection facility. Together they provide essential blood products to patients cared for in both institutions. The need for donors is great, and there is no substitute for human blood.

Adult Choir rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30pm in the upper church. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to participate. The ability to read music is not necessary–only a love of singing. For as many years as our church has been in existence the Adult Choir has provided sacred choral music for Sunday liturgies, holy days such as Christmas and Easter, Holy Week and occasional choral concerts. This group always has been dedicated to the enhancement of every liturgy in which they participate. Over the past several years the number of choir members has diminished, which is most evident in the men’s section. Now more than ever there is a need to build up the membership, so all who love singing are asked to consider contributing their talent. The old cliché, the more you give, the more you get in return, is overused in many cases; but when it comes to the Adult Choir, it is never more true. Please take the time to consider joining.

Youth Choir Rehearsals are Thursdays 2:30–3:30pm in the lower church. All students in grades three and up are invited to join. The Youth Choir sings at the 9:00am Mass the first and third Sundays of the month.
