Religious Education Program

At the time of Baptism, your child was welcomed into the Catholic faith, your faith. As parents, you answered for your child, accepting the obligation of teaching and sharing your faith.

Through these formative years of childhood and young adolescence, by word and example, you nourish your child's spiritual growth. You are your children's first and primary religious educators. It is on the holy ground of our homes, and through the interactions of our families that we first encounter our living and loving God and learn about ourselves.

The role of the staff and teachers of Holy Name Parish and the Holy Name Religious Education Program is to form a partnership with you to foster this spiritual growth. It is to help your children – and you - to better understand and integrate the tenets of the faith into our daily lives.

The philosophy of the Holy Name Religious Education Program is rooted in a profound conviction that the Word of God is central in our lives. The goal of the program is to bring every student closer to Jesus, to guide them in the formation of values, and to pass along the rich tradition of our Catholic faith. The context for our teaching is one of appreciation for different learning styles and needs of the students. Our staff and our volunteer teachers are ready and willing to work with parents to provide a comfortable learning environment.

The catechetical program is effective only when fully supported by the family and cannot work optimally unless the family is involved. We encourage you to attend the 9:00am Family Mass and invite you to enroll your youngsters to be altar servers, to sing in the youth choir, to proclaim the Word as youth lectors, or to participate in some other capacity. We encourage and invite you to do the same.

Our prayer for all of our children is that when the time comes for them to move out on their own, faith will be the context in which they live their lives - a faith that is the source of consolation in bad times, strength in difficult times, and joy and thankfulness in good times.
